Starting as soon as possible in January 2012, our client requires a suitability experienced and tertiary qualified temporary Application Support Officer / Helpdesk Officer to work within their Corporate Business Team reporting to the Team Leader.
Duties and responsibilities include;
- Performing systems and database administration tasks to ensure the integrity, currency and reliable operation of Corporate Applications, including: SQL Databases, Oracle Databases, Hummingbird, Pathway, Magic Helpdesk System, Aurion, Test Director software and other specialised applications
- Undertakes scheduled systems, and applications maintenance tasks in accordance with approved Change Management practices.
- Undertakes database administration activities
- Provides the expertise in the planning, implementation and testing of applications software enhancements (software fixes).
- Provides application support through monitoring the applications related helpdesk call queue and resolving the calls logged.
- Undertakes and if required, manages assigned tasks related to projects and tasks are completed within agreed time frames and budget.
- Assists in the documentation of policies and procedures for Corporate Applications
Suitable candidates will have the following skills and experience;
- Tertiary qualifications in computing or relevant discipline.
- SQL database administration experience (Oracle would be desirable but not essential)
- Practical experience in supporting and administering application software, as described above
- Proven analytical and problem solving capabilities with a commitment to continuous improvement.
- A solid understanding of database environments, particularly within an Oracle or SQL Server environment.
- Excellent communication skills including active listening, negotiation and influencing with a demonstrated commitment to customer service.
- Sound usage of Microsoft office applications (Word, Excel, Project)
- Proven experience in documenting procedures
