Our client is a civil contractor providing maintenance, engineering and construction services with predominantly 'blue chip' customers.

In this newly created role, you will be reporting to the Estimating Manager and will be assisting with the development of cost plans and/or tender proposals that provides the capacity for the Company to win and perform projects at planned margins.

Key Accountabilities 

• Participate in Client meetings to understand their drivers, issues, expectations and design requirements prior to entering the bid process. 
• Develop an understanding of the competitive advantages and disadvantages and assist in developing a bid strategy to improve competitive position and likely outcome.  
• Participate as a member of the bid team taking ownership of the estimate and other elements as directed.  
• Based on the project design/plans, assist with the costing of projects incorporating detailed bills of quantities and an analysis of risks and opportunities requiring further evaluation prior to final submission.  
• Assist with the analysis of supplier and trade cost.  
• Assist with the process to ensure the project contract is consistent with the estimated project design/plan, prior to signature.  
• Prior to commencement, participate in process to ensure Project Manager is fully briefed on client and key design/cost issues.  
• Ensure regular communication with Project Managers to monitor achieved costs relative to cost plan estimates.  
• Research, Retain and Expand Subcontractor networks in accordance with Company policies and procedures; form strategic alliances and/or partnerships where required to improve competitive position.  

Maintain and utilise Company Quality Management System and software. 
Maintain knowledge of building techniques, including cost saving innovations. Share such knowledge with other company personnel. 

Desired Experience

• Construction Management/Civil Engineering/Quantity Surveying degree or Diploma

 Personal Characteristics and Attributes

• A disciplined approach to work.  
• Project planning skills and knowledge of planning/project management tools. 
• Good communication skills, written and oral.
